Service

The Greater Seattle Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous (GSIG) has been providing services to alcoholics since 1947. Intergroup provides services that are beyond the scope of individual meetings.

Step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Why service?

Our Twelfth Step—carrying the message—is the basic service that the A.A. Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. Therefore, A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society of alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven’t been given the truth may die. — Co-founder Bill W., “A.A. Legacy of Service”

Ways to get involved
